About Us

What is counselling?

At some stage of our lives we may feel worried or unhappy about our individual circumstances.

Family and friends can help, but there are times when you need to talk with someone who is not close to your situation, someone who is qualified to help you work through your difficulties.

We are here to listen:

  • We are not here to judge
  • We are not here to tell you what to do
  • We are not here to give advice

Talking can:

  • Help you find balance
  • Help bring understanding
  • Help you find a way through

What services are available?

We offer formal, confidential counselling sessions by appointment for individuals or for couples, with a choice of face-to-face or online counselling. At present we have counsellors operating during the daytime at Cheadle, Romiley and Wilmslow and in the evening at Edgeley and Gorton. Online counselling can be arranged for either daytime or evening.

For those with English as a second language, we are able to offer counselling in some other languages—please state which language you require when making the application and we will see if we are able to help.

How much does it cost?

Counselling is funded from donations and contributions, which enable Stockport Community Counselling to continue to be open to all, regardless of their ability to pay.

We encourage our clients to make a donation towards the cost of their session according to their means and after discussion with their counsellor.
