Stockport Community Counselling was set up (under the name of Stockport Christian Counselling) in 1989 by a group of local Christians.  We changed the name in February 2024 to reflect the fact that although all our Counsellors and Listeners are motivated by their Christian faith,  we offer our Counselling and Listening services to all people over 18 years of age of all faiths (or none).  We are happy to work with people individually or as couples who feel the need for help when life's difficulties make it hard to cope.

We are a registered charity, staffed entirely by volunteers: trained counsellors; qualified listeners; professional supervisors; administrative staff; receptionists and a management committee.

Our Counsellors are men and women who have trained and studied to obtain recognised counselling qualifications.

Confidentiality is an essential part of all we do.

We also offer training and support to other groups on counselling-related issues.

Stockport Community Counselling abides by the B.A.C.P. & A.C.C. Code of Ethics.
